Top songs on the Minnesota Sound Playlist.

Linus "Well Runs Dry"
“Well Runs Dry” is a nostalgia inspiring pop punk track with a catchy hook, gang vocals and of course, a lot of power chords. The song is tight, fairly heavy and melodic through and through. Clocking in at only a minute and a half, this track is a breakneck speed tour through a pop punk wonderland. Fuzzy Guitars, speedy drum beats and light hearted emo lyrics are all to be found along the way. “Well Runs Dry” comes from Linus’ latest LP “Live, Love, Linus.”

Terraform "Totality"
Metal band Teraform delivers a tight distorted guitar tone and incredible technical energy with the track “Totality.” The mix of this song finds each element sitting nicely and provides a considerable amount of clarity for a record with so much going on. High energy melodic vocals, screams and growls lead the track through a series of different breakdowns, verses and choruses. The song displays technicality, attention to detail and creativity. “Totality” comes from the band's new self-titled album.

Reed Benjamin "Fast Break"
“Fast Break” is a chill hip hop/RnB track with sparkling production. Head bopping energy permeates the track. The song sports low passed synth chords and clean drum samples reminiscent of pop artists like Drake. The chorus is melodic and catchy and the rap verses are compelling. The track comes from Reed Benjamin’s newest album “I Of The Storm.”

Zaq Baker "Dairy Queen"
Zaq Baker gives an emotional, heartfelt yet comedic performance on the track “Dairy Queen.” The track is heavily narrative driven, revolving around a disgruntled Dairy Queen employee. Although at face value the thematic content of the song seems lighthearted, Baker manages to evoke a surprising level of emotion through his storytelling and conversational lyrics. Think of Bo Burnhams latest comedy Special “Inside.” The song is primarily a piano ballad but includes a stunning string section in the later half. To hear more from Zaq Baker check out his full length LP “Cardio.”

The Tire Fires "Garbage People"
Acoustic rock band The Tire Fires give a stripped down organic performance on their latest single “Garbage People.” The lyrics are intensely conversational to the point of comedic relief. Nonetheless the song is poignant and direct. “All of you, you’re garbage people,” the singer says over an acoustic guitar and upright bass instrumental. The song is one of three singles the band has released this year.

Wringer "Movement”
Towing the line between metal, hardcore and punk, Wringer presents a dynamic and chaotic anthem “Movement.” Often reminiscent of Rage Against The Machine stylistically. The vocals drive the song with fast paced, angst ridden and angry lyrics. The instrumental follows close behind with a stunning array of rhythms, tempo changes, glitches and of course distortion. The track is heavy, powerful and punk to the core. “Movement” comes from Wringers’s debut EP “Divide” released earlier this year.
