Top songs on the Minnesota Sound Playlist.

Muun Bato "Corn Woman"
Muun Bato blends 60’s and 70’s era psychedelic rock with modern production on “Corn Woman.” The song is full of grandiose melodies, fuzzy guitar licks and droning vocals with a spaced-out flare. The band manages to sound retro and futuristic at the same time, presenting something unique and satisfying. The song appears on the bands most recent LP “Paraphonic Vapors.”

Jane October "Rumors"
Jane October delivers an incredible sonic aesthetic on the new track “Rumors.” The track features a thick lo-fi trap drum track, subtle pads and electronic textures with a mesmerizing reverb. The track is reminiscent of iconic songs like Massive Attack’s “Teardrop.” The vocals are sleepy, but confident and controlled. To hear more from Jane October listen to the latest EP “Late Night,” particularly the track “GAMES” which features an incredible piano sound and a beautiful vocal melody.

Inflict "everything will be just fine"
“everything will be just fine” is a hard rock song with disarmingly raw and emotional vocals. The song builds on the sounds of local bands like “Household,” presenting a bigger sound while still including the contrast of clean melodic guitar and singing with passages of heavier guitar and more shouting/screaming. The production is impeccable and the track brings an incredible amount of emotional energy. The song is part of the band’s latest three-track release “Inevitable.”

Henni Antoine "ATARI"
“ATARI” is a hard hitting trap track with pop sensibilities. Massive synth pads and a classic trap beat underpin a heavily auto-tuned vocal. The energy of the song is high throughout and Antoine has carved a nice niche out here blending hip hop with a larger than life arcade-game-esque sonic aesthetic. The track comes from Antoine’s latest 13-track LP “Angles.”

YYY "Keep Off The Lawn"
“Keep Off The Lawn” is an engaging electronic pop track with zany lyrics and trippy synth bass tones. The song is simple but glitchy, heavily laden with vocal samples and unique sounds. Lyrically abstract, the vocals are front and center. The track comes from YYY’s latest album “aquadungeonafterdark” which might feature the coolest album artwork I’ve ever seen.

Folios "Landlocked"
Self described “lo-fi cardigan rock” artist Folios presents a simple stripped back performance on “Landlocked.” The song is mostly acoustic guitars with an organ occasionally interspersed. The production is stripped back and organic. The lyrics are endearing and poetic, presented in a simple and straightforward way that is quite pleasant. “Landlocked” comes from Folios’s debut album “Dispatch.”
