Top songs on the Minnesota Sound Playlist.

ivers "Summers End"
“Summers End” is a glitchy electronic indie track with prominent vocal chops and chilly melodic synthesizer beeps. The vocal melodies are warm and endearing. The drum tracks are run through a crisp distortion that adds character and energy. The song is simple yet intriguing and innovative. “Summers End” comes from Ivers latest EP “Closet Wine.”

Kaylee Kitzman "Medium"
Singer/Songwriter Kaylee Kitzman presents a simple, lyric-forward and Introspective tune with “Medium.” The song features a repetitive, droning electric guitar instrumental that slowly builds with the addition of drums and atmospheric elements toward the end of the track. The true star of “Medium” is Kitzman’s lyricism. With dark lines like “I visit Salem when I sleep,” “Everyone I love has been crucified by me,” and “God doesn’t know that I’ve been hiding pocket aces,” the track is absolutely enthralling and worthy of several listens.

Graveslave "Spectral Procession"
Progressive Deathgrind band Graveslave offer a nonstop onslaught of dark noise with the track “Spectral Procession.” Prominently featured is a drum track that will cause your arms to ache just imagining playing it. The track has several breakdowns with just about as gnarly an array of sounds an electric guitar can make. A large chorus adds to the darkness behind the vocals on the back end of the track. “Spectral Procession” comes from the bands latest album “No Center.”

Muskelunge "Still Learning"
Noise-pop group “Muskelunge” give a dynamic performance on the track “Still Learning.” The song is full of ups and downs with bouncing bass lines and quick guitar rhythms giving way to much more open sections of distortion and symbol crashes. The guitars are scratchy, the vocals are energetic and the song structure is engaging. “Still Learning” is the bands second single release this year.

Colin Bracewell "Page"
“Page” is a gentle indie bop with subtle production elements supporting an acoustic/vocal led track. The song starts out simple and maintains the singer/songwriter feel at the helm but adds pop elements over the course of the track resulting in a much more expansive sonic environment. The chorus of this track is incredibly gorgeous and massively catchy. “Page” comes from Bracewell’s latest EP “Valley.”

Blood Oak "Twisted"
“Twisted” is a technically impressive metal track with piercing guitar tone, growling vocals and hypnotic rhythms. The production on this track is impressive and tight. The main breakdown hook of the song is memorable and surprisingly danceable. “Twisted” is full of variety and includes an incredible amount of rhythms for a three minute track. The song is the title track of the bands latest EP.
