Melodic Noise Insider Podcast: #8 Juice Lord

March 11, 2024 by Andrew Ellis in Podcast

Juice Lord’s new album 8th Inning : Luv VS Passion was an immediate repeat listen for me. I could hear the Nas and Jay-Z influences in his verses along with the superb production. But make no mistake: he’s Minnesota proud.

The Doll Brawl: a Night of Transsexual Glamour and Rage at Seward Cafe - Leap Day 2024

Seward Cafe
March 07, 2024 by Emily Schmidt in Show Review

February 29, the day Camp Nenookaasi burned to the ground, Seward Cafe hosted the Doll Brawl. As a benefit for the Autonomous Yurt Union, the need could not have been more urgent, as 23 yurts were destroyed, displacing the Indigenous-led healing camp for the fourth time in 2024. On top of the four bands playing that night, representatives from COVID Aware Twin Cities and Black & Pink Minneapolis provided resources and rounded out the community-focused evening.

Melodic Noise Meida's Five Year Anniversary and Benefit for She Rock She Rock

March 05, 2024 by Katy Kelly in Concert Review, Concert Photography

Walking into the ballroom I was captivated by the lights that glowed bright behind the stage, Eagles #34 was such a cozy and inviting venue. This was the Melodic Noise Media benefit show for the She Rock She Rock organization. She Rock She Rock empowers women, girls, non-binary and trans individuals through the power of art and music. The benefit show raised $457 for this great organization. It was heart warming to see the community come together to support this amazing organization.

Andy's Songs of the North Playlist Reviews - February 2024

February 06, 2024 by Andrew Ellis in Album Review

2024 is here and I am ready for another year of original music from Minnesota. Luckily, I was able to find some more Hip-Hop, rock, our first repeat artist, and more. Honestly there’s plenty out there as long as you’re willing to dig, which I have no issue with.

FAVORITE MINNESOTA ALBUMS OF 2023

January 23, 2024 by Andrew Perrizo in Year End List

So the hardest part of writing year end reviews is finding unique descriptions that ultimately just mean "this album fucking rocks, check it out!" All of these albums fucking rock, and you should check them out. Hopefully we were able to explain the essence of these projects a bit more than such a surface level glance. While we do one last look back at 2023, consider joining us on February 24th to help us celebrate doing this for 5 YEARS! We are having a gig to benefit She Rock She Rock at Eagles 34. Check out the poster at the bottom of the article.
