Walking into the ballroom I was captivated by the lights that glowed bright behind the stage, Eagles #34 was such a cozy and inviting venue. This was the Melodic Noise Media benefit show for the She Rock She Rock organization. She Rock She Rock empowers women, girls, non-binary and trans individuals through the power of art and music. The benefit show raised $457 for this great organization. It was heart warming to see the community come together to support this amazing organization.
Setsun
With the intricate lyrics and dynamic delivery, watching Setsun was a real pleasure. Refreshing and exciting, it was different from the performances that I’ve seen in the cities. Hearing the raw lyrics against the hard hitting beats really shine light on the message they were delivering. Walrus the Human was very engaging and filled the room by moving around and expressing the emotion behind each song. Other noteworthy moments in the Setsun set was when Walrus pulled Skydro and SOLANA from the audience to perform songs featuring them.
drey dk
drey dk exceeded my expectations, I was blown away by the ambient yet captivating instrumentals on top of their distinct vocals that tied the songs together. Incorporating the guitar with the keyboard had a very soothing sound that kept me wanting to hear more. Their lyrics had me hooked and the meaning behind each song really resonated with me. I could hear the passion and work that drey dk put into it just by their stoic stage presence.
Admiral Fox
Normally a full band, Admiral Fox did a solo set which was unexpected and absolutely fascinating. All throughout the set I was mesmerized by the delivery of each verse. When Dan DeMarco was describing the mood of each song it was clearly portrayed and vivid. Hearing them live for the first time exceeded my expectations. For being a solo act, it sounded very cohesive and flowed incredibly well..
Mild Manner
This ensemble blew me out of the water. The lead vocalist played the saxophone beautifully, truly in tune with the keyboard and rhythm section. I was amazed by the energy they brought to the table as well as bringing up another vocalist in the middle of the set. They owned the stage while staying perfectly in sync. It was very engaging and fun to watch them as they owned the stage with their funky instrumentals and zest that made for an exciting performance.
Overall, the show was a great success. There was dancing, laughing, great music, all while benefiting a great cause. I would love to see more from these artists and I am definitely going to keep my eye out for future shows!
