Top songs on the Minnesota Sound Playlist.

The Great Went "Peel"
“Peel” Is the final track off The Great Went’s new album “Giardiniera.” Fantastic guitar tone is underpinned with fuzzy bass and a dynamic drum performance. At almost six minutes in length the track is a progressive instrumental that shifts from chill to intense and ends straight up epic. A perfect conclusion to a full length album!

The Diarrhetics "Undivided"
“Undivided” from The Diarrhetics latest project “When Keeping It Real Goes Wrong” is a chaotic journey into the DIY punk sound with even a bit of added intensity, dipping into the metal genre quite frequently. The song sports a breakneck tempo, ungodly screams and an energy that will make you wanna get to the nearest basement house show and mosh.

Chaz Kangas,Nur-D "Ghostwork"
“Ghostwork” features a lush hip hop instrumental with a heavenly chord progression and hard knocking acoustic drum sounds. The first vocal performance sounds more like something from Short Skirt/Long Jacket by Cake than a traditional hip hop delivery. The lyrics are broken off by a beautiful vocal sample that transitions into Nur-d’s verse, a reflection on being ghosted by a romantic interest. The track works well and definitely inspires head-bobbing. Check out Kangas latest album “Small Hours” to hear more!

Night of Joy "Captain!"
“Captain!” by Nights of Joy is a grungy track from the bands 2020 EP, Devils. The shining star of this song is undoubtedly the vocal performance. Reminiscent of Awolnation’s passionate shouting, Nights Of Joy channels an incredible energy in the singing of this tune. Loud refrains are interspersed with more introspective lyrics delivered in a calmer more distorted fashion “step back from the barricades that barricade you from yourself.” The song is infectious and will have you shouting “Captain!” over and over in your head.

Brent Lundell "I'll Sell It (My Soul’s Worth Nothing)"
This is one of the grooviest instrumentals I’ve heard in an incredibly long period of time. The intricate and layered textures of the drums combined with the bass line is infectious. The rhythm is offset by an ambient droning pad which sets the tone sonically for the haunting repetition of the phrase “I’ll sell it, my soul’s worth nothing.” An incredible track with great artwork as well. Can’t wait to hear what Brent Lundell has in store for us next!

Harlow "Too Many Sides (Of The Same Coin)”
"Too Many Sides (Of The Same Coin) is a chilled out folk-rock tune full of vocal harmonies and relaxing guitars. The track has the slightest hint of country to it, ending in a soaring, reverbed out violin solo. The hook is catchy and the production is top notch, a perfect catharsis-inspiring summer bop for long walks alone and getting into your feels.
