Andy's Songs of the North Playlist Reviews - March 2023

March 06, 2023 by Andrew Ellis in Album Review

The talent just keeps revealing itself. Whether it’s a new MC, a hard rocker belting his soul out, a group of women creating some of the best Americana, or a cancer survivor penning a song to those who have survived their own struggles, our great state is full of artists making original music. Hopefully this list continues to help you discover your new favorite.

January 18, 2023 by Andrew Perrizo in Year End List

Once more, we are looking back at our favorite Minnesota releases of 2022. The hardest part of this project is always trying to think of new ways to say “This album fucking slaps, check it out.” So definitely check out the Honorable Mentions as well, because I just ran out of ways to compliment these amazing albums.

FAVORITE TWIN CITIES' EPS OF 2020

January 11, 2021 by Andrew Perrizo in Year End List

To quote Keith Harris, final music editor for City Pages, “I too have noticed it was a hard year.” Music has made the suffering this year more bearable, even though it was one of the hardest-hit industries. It would be truly impossible to try and list all of the projects we’ve enjoyed this year, but here are just a few of our favorites.

2019 ALBUM OF THE YEAR

January 06, 2020 by Andrew Perrizo in Year End List

So here is the thing, I like a certain type of music, and though my musical taste has greatly expanded over the last year, These are my favorite albums and EPs of 2019. You’ll find albums no one else included on their year end lists, but you’ll also find albums that EVERYONE has already written about. Ask anyone else and they’ll give you a different list. it’s impossible to set my bias aside. It’s also impossible to include everyone on this list, there are a lot of truly amazing albums I feel bad for leaving off these lists. I listened to over two-hundred albums/EPs from 2019 and relistened to all of them again over the last couple months. All that said, here are my favorite albums and EPs of 2019. Tell me why I’m wrong and what I missed in the comments.
