A-Scratch, Capaciti, Romes "La Crosse, Wisconsin"
There's nothing better than a hometown shout out track and “La Crosse, Wisconsin” is a perfect example of that. This song is not only produced by but is also written by A-Scratch. Rappers Capaciti and Romes bounce lyrics back and forth off each other and keep a playful mood throughout. The song starts with a crunchy electric bass line and a throwback snare. The scratched chorus will sound very familiar but is flipped in a completely new way. I didn't grow up in Lacrosse but now I almost feel like I did. Checking out baseball card shops, hanging with friends and hitting up late night food spots. With most of these locations changed drastically or gone forever, they will never be forgotten and this song gives their memory one more chance to shine.
Super Glitter "Tragedy"
“Tragedy” is a DIY punk rock track with lots of dissonance, scratchy riffs and a breakneck pace. The guitars are squeaky and the performances are rough around the edges. This song has a really nice and organic production vibe. The more abrasive verses open up into a sweeter melody on the choruses. This is Super Glitter’s first release.
The Snowman Band "Joyful Strut"
“Joyful Strut” is a song with deep pocket grooves and a soaring saxophone lead. This instrumental track is full of diverse instrumentation, harmony and rhythm. The mix is crisp and clear with a dialed in low end that hits hard. A few instrumentalists are featured for solos including organ and bass. This track is fun and great to dance to!
Poliça "Alive"
“Alive” is the opening track off Poliça’s new LP “Madness.” The song features ominous synth bass, dark electronic drum beats and fuzzy synth pads. Lead singer Channy Leaneagh delivers some gorgeous yet haunting melodies through a wash of effects. Glitched out chops of the vocals are sprinkled tastefully throughout the track.
Chethelyricist "4 the Kids"
“4 the Kids” is a mellow hip-hop track with a lo-fi drum kit, subtle synth chords and glistening guitar licks. The song feels sparklingly modern with a tastefully vintage sound. The lyrics are compelling and full of storytelling, heart and a melancholy vibe. The song features a guest verse from Alma 16. “4 the Kids'' comes from Chethelyricist’s new album “The Rhythm You’ve All Been Waiting For.”
Bugsy "Slip N' Slide"
Bugsy’s new single “Slip N’ Slide” is a solid piece of indie rock that pushes towards the heavier ends of the genre. The song culminates in some pretty big moments of distorted guitar, screaming and cymbal crashes all while maintaining a strongly melodic core. The mix is devoid of many effects resulting in a feeling of closeness creating surprisingly intimate moments as the song progresses through more and more intensity. To hear more from Bugsy check out the song “iceagebaby.”
