THE VON TRAMPS "SUMMER NIGHTS" MUSIC VIDEO

May 22, 2020 by Andrew Perrizo in Video Premiere

The beaches might be closed and the state fair is cancelled, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still find a way to enjoy summer and the great music that goes along with it. The Von Tramps and their surf-ska-rock provide us with a bit of sunshine and summer love in their video for “Summer Nights.”

SONIC SEA TURTLES "BODIES" MUSIC VIDEO

May 22, 2020 by Andrew Perrizo in Video Premiere

We are all experiencing isolation to at least some extent right now; from our friends, our families, and our communities. Sonic Sea Turtles put out a request to their fans to create images of isolation and then took the images and turned them into the music video for “Bodies.”

VIAL "THERAPY" MUSIC VIDEO

May 14, 2020 by Andrew Perrizo in Video Premiere

Who among us hasn’t thought about getting back together with an ex even though we all know it’s a terrible idea? Our ex-s are ex-s for a reason. In “Therapy” even VIAL’s therapist insists that it would be a bad idea to get back with their ex. VIAL teams up with Movement X Media to give us a video to go along with their post break-up anthem.

ADMIRAL FOX "NOWHERE IS SAFE" REVIEW

May 08, 2020 by Andrew Perrizo in Album Review

“Nowhere is Safe,” a title that sums up the anxiety and fear most inhabitants of planet Earth are feeling right now, is a darker and grungier turn for the typically more pop-synth rock Admiral Fox. Released in April, the “Nowhere is Safe”’s five tracks seem to swell with anxiety until the penultimate song “Pictures of Drones,” then dial up the cynicism with a cathartic release on “So Proud.” Without knowing it Admiral Fox provided my pandemic experience with a perfect soundtrack.

May 07, 2020 by Andrew Perrizo in Interview

Jessa Roquet is a beloved and integral member of the Twin Cities music community whose life has recently been turned upside-down by a diagnosis of stage 4 liver cancer – all in the time of Covid-19 spreading like wildfire across the globe. As a single mother of three daughters and a (pre-Covid) gigging musician, Jessa has a full-life, and now must do all that she can to preserve it.

PRIME & PM'S "CREATURES FROM THE BASEMENT" REVIEW

May 01, 2020 by Paul Thorson in Album Review

The dynamic duo of the Prime & P.M. recently dropped “Creatures from the Basement,” on the first of April. If you don’t know which is which; Zaximus Prime is the mischievous, but bluntly charming emcee that acts as the narrator for this little tour of the dark and dingy basement of two hip-hop abominations. Jake P.M. the producer/DJ takes care of the soundtrack for this 8 track, 33 minute tour.

ALLERGEN "HONESTY HOUR EP" PREVIEW

April 30, 2020 by Andrew Perrizo in Album Review

Garage rock is not generally an avenue for sonic exploration. The rules of the game are simple and straightforward. 1) Be loud 2) Play fast 3) Wear your bleeding heart on your sleeve. Numerous bands dating back to the ‘60s have made their name following these three rules.
