ORPHAN ANDY "GOD LOVE MONEY" ALBUM REVIEW

July 30, 2019 by Andrew Perrizo in Album Review

Melancholy, but bright and optimistic, the Minneapolis Emcee Orphan Andy swings through anxiousness and self-realization in his album “God Love Money.” Ominous and heavy production; live strings, pianos, and jabbing horns accompany the heavy 808’s and the overall grand production.

LAZENLOW "W/A/V/E/S" ALBUM REVIEW

July 29, 2019 by Andrew Perrizo in Album Review

Like a hazy dream you want to revisit, Lazenlow’s “w/a/v/e/s” is dark, playful, and beautiful. More than just an interestingly spelt title, waves also describes the pulsing crash of beats washing over you again and again, but also the way the subgenres of the songs change from track to track.

YAM HAUS "THE THRILL" VIDEO

July 25, 2019 by Andrew Perrizo in Video Premiere

On the surface Yam Haus’s video for “The Thrill” comes off as just another fun summer pop music video. Rollercoasters, a water-balloon fight, and dance-y guitar-pop all make this video fit neatly into that package. However, scratch beneath the surface and you’ll find “The Thrill” has serious depth to its lyrics about living in the moment and chasing the next thrill, and a video that plays with that message.

CORSAIR "CONTENT WITH THE CHAOS" ALBUM REVIEW

July 23, 2019 by Andrew Perrizo in Album Review

“Content With the Chaos” tells the story of a ship and its crew setting out in search of treasure (Spoiler Alert), it doesn’t go well for them.  Corsair’s debut album is technical, precise, and a fun adventure to listen to, but not so fun for the protagonists in this metal concept album.

BITTER GHOST "NEOPHYTE" PREVIEW

July 11, 2019 by Andrew Perrizo in Album Review

A neophyte is someone who is new to a subject or place, which is perfect for Bitter Ghost, a relatively new band with a comfortable throwback-inspired sound, but that doesn’t mean they don’t experiment.

MINNESOTA COLD "LYNDALE" ALBUM PREVIEW

July 08, 2019 by Andrew Perrizo in Album Review

Cohesive but still full of variety, Minnesota Cold’s “Lyndale” perfectly encapsulates what it’s like to live on the infamous street. Blistering through ten tracks in under twenty minutes, “Lyndale” features eight different producers, a fact that could lead to the album feeling disjointed actually adds to each track feeling unique, but apart of a whole.

CHRISTOPHER MICHAEL JENSEN "JOY, VOID, DESTROY EP" REVIEW

June 24, 2019 by Andrew Perrizo in Album Review

Filled with references to dirty politicians and nostalgia from the late eighties and early nineties, “Joy, Void, Destroy EP” is a seven-track rollercoaster ride worth taking.

LENA ELIZABETH "NOBODY WANTS YOU" VIDEO PREMIERE

June 14, 2019 by Andrew Perrizo in Video Premiere

Both the song and video for “Nobody Wants You” tell the story of men invading the space and comfort of women, both cluelessly and aggressively.
