YAM HAUS "THE THRILL" VIDEO
On the surface Yam Haus’s video for “The Thrill” comes off as just another fun summer pop music video. Rollercoasters, a water-balloon fight, and dance-y guitar-pop all make this video fit neatly into that package. However, scratch beneath the surface and you’ll find “The Thrill” has serious depth to its lyrics about living in the moment and chasing the next thrill, and a video that plays with that message. The obvious moments to point out are the shots of Yam Haus on rides, often straight faced and in juxtaposition to the situation, and the intro where the narrator explains that Lars derives pleasure from doing taxes early. Later in the video the band is walking around in clown make-up and suits with straight faces, yet another juxtaposition. It’s almost impossible to always live in the moment, but we just have to enjoy it as best we can. I suggest you best enjoy this moment by watching the video for “The Thrill” below.
“The Thrill is about the chase - the inescapable human nature we all feel to run after something outside of ourselves to find what we’re looking for. Life is a chase... and it flies by, so buckle up and pay attention. Like an amusement park ride, we will do anything to enjoy a quick moment of exhilaration, and we repeat it again and again. As a band we’re simply inviting you to the show.” - Lars Pruitt, Vocals and Guitar, Yam Haus
