TWAIN FT. JAY JEMINII AND SHAINA LACEY "CHANGES" MUSIC VIDEO
TWAIN’s song “Changes” is an optimistic statement that equality will finally come for BIPOC in the United States soon. The video honors those from the Twin Cities that were taken by racial injustices, while also showing TWAIN rapping the verses and Jay Jeminii and Shaina Lacey singing the hook. Spliced in are images of civil rights icons and moments that show just how long equality has been put on hold in this country. The video ends with this quote from TWAIN shown on screen, “BLACK LIVES ALWAYS MATTERED. BLACK LIVES MORE THAN MATTER. BLACK LIVES WILL NEVER NOT MATTER.” And with such a simple, obvious message, how could anyone not agree?
“We made Changes to honor the times we’re in currently. After everything that’s been going on in our city, it was important for this visual to tell the story of how we got to this moment; because the world may not know the full Minnesota history in recent years with the police. So, we paused at Jamar Clark and Philando Castile and gave glory to both of those Kings, and to empower black people & our genuine allies. Change is coming sooner than the powers that be think.” - TWAIN
