Top songs on the Minnesota Sound playlist.

Mae Simpson "Goodbye"
“Goodbye” is a big band pop banger with sparkling production, harmonized background vocals, glistening saxophone and a subtle folk rock flair. The song is full of catchy melodies and features a confident lead vocal from Mae Simpson. The song is peppy and sassy, a breakup song with attitude and positive vibes. To hear more from Mae Simpson check out their last single “falling.”

Brea Scow, Dave Velk "Hopscotch"
“Hopscotch” is a track with electronic production, gentle hip-hop drum samples and soft keys. The song features two verses from Dave Velk and a catchy refrain from Brea Scow. The track has a chill vibe and just enough bounce to keep the listener moving. To hear more from Brea Scow, check out the latest single “Don’t Be Afraid.”

Daark, Bigg Kiaa "7 Doves"
Daark returns with another brooding, dark electronic rap track. This one has an aggressive beat with Daark’s signature spooky trap sound. The vocals are deep, and delivered with an eerie monotone flow. “7 Doves” features an incredible guest performance from Bigg Kiaa who brings the song's energy to the absolute next level with confidence and powerful bars. To hear more from Daark, be sure to check out the new album “Rare Liquid.”

Rank Strangers "Dark Winter"
“Dark Winter” sounds like a slightly darker, more psychedelic marriage between the music of Arcade Fire and The Flaming Lips. With DIY production featuring a gorgeous upright piano, indie rock drums and wild synthesizers, the song weaves gentle falsetto vocal melodies in and out of aggressive, jangling guitar riffs. This song comes from the band’s new album “Hotel Turpentine.”

Tha Rift, Angelo Bombay "Over"
“Over” is a stunning R&B track with ethereal rhodes, crisp drums and absolutely gorgeous vocals. Washed in reverb, the song is gentle, with just the perfect amount of bouncing bass to infuse the instrumental with a solid groove. I can’t really stress enough how nice the vocal melodies on this song are. Be sure to check out the new single “Don’t Let Go” from Tha Rift.

Flip Rushmore "Platypuseidon"
“Playpuseidon” is an indie rock track with winding lead guitar lines, tightly synchronized hits and a vocal melody that's full of twists and turns. The song jumps from chord to chord in a way that defies intuition, tastefully utilizing theory to display the band's cerebral songwriting approach. The track is definitively indie with some classic guitar tones and a pleasant, soft drum tone. To hear more from Flip Rushmore, check out the rest of their new EP “Choose Your Villians Wisely.”
