LITTLE LIZARD "EARTHLINGS" MUSIC VIDEO
The video for “Earthlings” is the ultimate crossover episode. In it, Lizz and Shea, the humanoid duo who operate as Little Lizard, present a cast of characters previously found in videos for their other tracks. Amongst those shown on screen are the white/gold Romanesque rockstars of “Take Me to Your Leader,” the draped and bathed Shea and Lizz from “Ghost Shows,” and “Break a Tooth‘’s jogging jocks. There’s also, of course, an alien. Each of these members of the Little Lizard Extended Universe pop up across many of the same spots one might find highlighted on a “Minneapolis Segway Tour.”
With a somewhat limited but rather unique audio palette at play, the instrumental “Earthlings” most outwardly calls to mind Mort Garson’s space ambient cult favorite, “Mother Earth’s Plantasia.” The song is slow to rise, like the feeling of a great stretch and yawn after a long nap. Even when the tempo picks up, it only moves from syrupy to something slightly less viscous. Both visually and sonically, the funk-punk band is supremely languid, and the song // video combination is a little too realistic to be dreamlike, but a little too dazed for reality. The only conclusively real takeaway here is that Little Lizard are goofy, groovy, and undeniably endearing.
“Being the title track of our upcoming album we wanted to go all out on the “Earthlings” music video. Combining a handful of shooting locations with a green screen and our entire stage wardrobe we put together a take on our favorite anime outros. Whittled down to just over 3 minutes “Earthlings” is our most ambitious video to date and we can’t think of a more fitting visual for this funk punk ballad.” - Little Lizard
