AIRSHIP CARAVAN "KALEIDOSCOPIC ANIMATION" MUSIC VIDEO
Local psych rockers, Airship Caravan, know how to make a music video perfectly appropriate for their songs. On their single, “Kaleidoscopic Animation,” they fittingly put together an accompanying visual composed entirely of - what else? - kaleidoscopic animations. Lest you forget, this is psychedelic music, and frankly, nothing goes with psychedelia better than some trippy shit to lose your brain to. The palette of choice here is classic: floral blooming reminiscent of what I imagine occurs while staring into the cover of the Beach Boys’ Wild Honey while psychonauting in a black-lit room.
Although churchboy harmonies start the track, Airship Caravan make it clear that that their song is no longer under the influence of such gateway psych pop as the Beach Boys and their Summer of Love brethren. No, these are not your mama’s Mamas & the Papas; instead, the Caravan fits a 15 second guitar solo into a 2:30 long track and makes it clear that not only are they groovy, they're also rockin.
“This song is about drugs and escapism. How psychedelics are a way to escape and see into a dimension normally invisible to us. This song was also the first song that the original members of the band wrote together and made us realize that we were actually decent song writers. It's been a mainstay in our shows since we've started playing and we love to play it live!” - Airship Caravan
