When I listen to Restless Romantic I get this feeling that we are listening to a page straight out of Nina’s diary. Her most personal, most present self expressed through her greatest strength- creating music.

Telling Untold Stories: Grant Glad Speaks the Truth in One Man's Story

October 07, 2024 by Andrew Perrizo in Album Review, Concert Review, Video Premier

One Man’s Story is a concept album recently released by Grant Glad & the Soo Line Loons. The album follows the life and experiences of a central character created by Glad as an homage to real men from his own life growing up in Minnesota, with song lyrics that ring true to these men’s lives (and details fictionalized to protect the innocent).

The Twins of Franklin ‘This Life’ Album Review

July 15, 2024 by Andrew Perrizo in Album Review

Right off the bat this album starts out full of emphatic energy. I was having a particularly lazy rainy day until I put This Life album on. Then I started organizing my closet which then led me to mop my floors (a well overdue task). The energy is infectious.

EAT is a triumphant display of sonic experimentation that sacrifices nothing in the way of catchy songwriting, and builds the artistic identity Gramma has been building for nearly a decade.

Andy's Songs of the North Playlist Reviews - July 2024

July 02, 2024 by Andrew Perrizo in Album Review

It’s July and honestly when will that rain stop. We know we need it, but we will also need concerts to stop being rained out and roads to stop flooding. While we’re waiting for the water to evaporate check out the great mix of original music I found for this month.

May 13, 2024 by Cameron Christopherson in Album Review

Psylo’s new EP Transit, released on December 8th, 2023, encapsulates the best of Minnesota indie rock music. The trio is composed of guitarist and vocalist Mark Idstrom, bassist Nicky Steidel, and drummer Dan Crist, each of whom display the full range of their talent on this record. The band's explosive live performances, coupled with the refreshing and appealing songwriting displayed on their debut EP, “Painting With The Sun,” granted Psylo a sizable cult following and regular audience at local performances. With the release of Transit, the band has shown no signs of slowing down.

Andy's Songs of the North Playlist Reviews - May 2024

May 06, 2024 by Andrew Perrizo in Album Review

The warmer weather is back with more rain than we had all last summer, and the return of outdoor live music. While everyone else seems to be still consuming the new Taylor Swift record and debating Kendrick Lamar VS Drake, I’m filling that void of some new indie music from our great state. It’s got rock, country, and a whole lot more!
