GENTLEMAN SPEAKER - "SELF-TITLED" REVIEW

April 15, 2019 by Andrew Perrizo in Album Review

Existential-folk melds with contemplative indie-rock on Gentleman Speaker’s “Self-Titled” album.  The creativity in each song on the album is obvious even from the first track, “Bed We Made,” with the lyrics discussing how humans and the Earth have gotten along, but viewed from the Earth’s perspective.

OKNICE "CALLOUS" EP PREVIEW

March 28, 2019 by Andrew Perrizo in Album Review

Anxiety, death, and coffee, the new EP “Callous” by OKnice is chill without being laid back, cynical with out being bleak, and heavy with out being inaccessible.  The themes on “Callous” also include fame, success, money, and what it means to not have any of them.

WHY NOT "EP" - REVIEW

March 18, 2019 by Andrew Perrizo in Album Review

From the moment the isolated guitar intro of “Ready 4 the World” kicks in I was hooked on “EP,” the latest offering from Why Not. Crunchy, distorted guitar, energetic bass, and thrashing drums make this EP a force.

...AND THROUGH IT

March 11, 2019 by Andrew Perrizo

Getting By isn’t just a clever band name, it’s also the overall refrain that weaves through “…And Through It” as the haunting reverb layered vocals tinged with sadness and optimism guide you through the peaks and mostly valleys of relationships.  The fuzzy distortion of the EP will draw you in and the relatable lyrics will keep you listening on repeat.

NEVER BETTER

February 25, 2019 by Andrew Perrizo

It’s weird how new music can make you nostalgic, but “Never Better” reminds me of life before my 9 to 5.  Life was simple, emotions were raw, and I was a smart ass.

WRONG TO REMAIN SILENT

February 18, 2019 by Andrew Perrizo in Album Review

I’m going to be up front here, I love clever lyrics and songs about politics, and Nickle Nelly’s entire album “Wrong to Remain Silent” is jam-packed with both.

PREMIUM VANILLA

January 27, 2019 by Andrew Perrizo in Album Review

Funk and Punk. These two genres seem contradictory, but Little Lizard brings them together on “Premium Vanilla” in a way that works unexpectantly well.

Slow Dancing Beyond Silverdome

January 01, 2019 by Andrew Perrizo in Album Review

Fragile Canyons released their latest EP “Slow Dancing Beyond Silverdome” on December 1, 2018.  The five-song project has an overall relaxed and chill vibe, with the exception being “Cadillac Souls,” which stands out without being out of place.
